Do I need a Physiotherapist, Chiropractor or an Osteopath?

This is a very common question that crops up in the many telephone conversations and emails we have with people from all over the region. Our answer to this question is often considered by our colleagues as very controversial.

All three therapies are performed by well trained professionals who will advertise to be treating the same thing. The significant differences are historical and philosophical nature. It might not surprise you that all three professions are treating the same individual with the same conditions, and there is only one set of scientific evidence in world literature which indicates what best practice is. Any high-quality practitioner is going to be up-to-date with this literature and will direct their professional learning towards best practice. It is therefore my contention that any high-quality practitioner will vary slightly in their philosophical approach but the actual treatment delivered will be remarkably similar. Far greater dissimilarities can be seen amongst what I would term as old school practitioners and new school practitioners in all three professional groups.

So where does that leave you the reader wondering where to go for a resolution to your back pain in the Worcester area?

We are biased but we know of exceedingly high quality physiotherapy businesses Osteopathic and Chiropractor businesses. At the end of the day you must be seeing somebody who you respect and trust and you will comply with their request for your engagement in your own recovery. It is my belief that what a patient requires most is a simple explanation of what is wrong with them, intervention to reduce the symptoms, and knowledge to help accelerate their recovery on their own.

At Black Pear Physio we pride ourselves on our communication skills to explain to you what is wrong and how you can improve your own symptoms. We also use the most up-to-date treatment techniques to facilitate a rapid recovery from your symptoms.
