Acupuncture

acupuncture needlesAcupuncture is no longer an alternative treatment and is now recommended by NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) as best practice for many musculoskeletal conditions.

The style of acupuncture that we use is not a traditional Chinese approach but is a modern scientific approach that has been developed for musculoskeletal conditions and has a strong evidence based within the scientific literature.

All physiotherapists at Black Pear Physio are post graduately trained in acupuncture and are members of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP) who quality assure that all their members are up to date with their continuous professional development in this field.

Acupuncture, contrary to popular belief, is not a painful procedure and has very few side effects.

If we feel that acupuncture is the best clinical pathway to facilitate your rapid recovery we will discuss this with you in detail and discuss the pros and cons of its use.

You do not have to have acupuncture as part of our treatment.

We use acupuncture in Black Pear Physio as part of a tool kit of techniques rather than as a stand alone treatment as the evidence suggests using multiple approaches for a particular problem will facilitate a quicker and more longer lasting recovery.

If you would like to discuss the use of acupuncture with us as part of any treatment please call us on 01905 611 010 or email us on enquiries@blackpearphysio.co.uk
