Self help reading

There is growing evidence that self help reading can help certain people with certain chronic pain conditions get better. Reading Well books on Prescription is a partnership between libraries and major health partners including the Department of Health, IAPT programme, Royal College of General Practitioners, Royal College of Nursing, Royal College of Psychiatrists , British Psychological Society and Mind.
Working within NICE guidelines, the scheme provides self-help reading for adults on a wide range of health conditions: anger, anxiety, chronic pain, depression and sleep worries.
You can prescribe relevant titles to patients who may benefit from this approach or adults may access the books for themselves at a local library as part of their own health and well being.
If you would like a recommendation of a book to read/buy regarding your condition please contact us, we will be glad to help.
